Gift Cards for Guns
Unwanted and unsecured guns in homes increase the risks of suicide, accidental discharge, domestic violence and street crime.
Trade guns for gift cards
on Saturday June 8
Since Cambridge held the first Gift Cards for Guns in 2015, people have exchanged 500+ guns, including
assault rifles and loaded handguns as well as revolvers, rifles, BB and pellet guns, for gift cards. Leftover grocery gift cards are donated to Cambridge food pantries.
Cambridge has very few gun related injuries and deaths but any are too many.
Let's keep our homes and our community safe.
Guns are the leading cause of death for children in the US. Between 2016-2020, almost more than 40,000 people died by guns every year. In 2021, 26,328 people in the US committed suicide with a firearm (54% of all gun deaths).
More than 4300 children and teens die by guns every year. Tens of thousands of people are injured in unintentional shootings each year.
A gun in a home is 22x more likely to be
used in domestic homicides, suicides,
and accidental discharges than in
self-defense.
